FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a nonprofit organization with robotic programs for students aged 4-18. The programs are designed to inspire the next generation to purse career opportunities in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).

This year, Hines will sponsor the TechnoDogs robotics team from Brighton, MI. The Brighton High School team competes in the FIRST Robotics competitions at state and international competitions. Community leaders contribute as mentors and sponsors at the tournaments to help students build a network of business and engineering professionals that help foster their skills. Computer hardware and software are changing rapidly. Hines Industries is now offering another computer upgrade option for your existing HVR, HO or HC manual balancing machines. This affordable option has been created for shops with lower volumes who still want to ensure repeatability, accuracy and precision.

The standard PC specification include:

• Menus: Hines focuses on user friendly menus in the design of its software. Computer is touchscreen with a keypad for navigation and numeric entry.
• Balance Readout: Balance is displayed in both a numerical amount and angle format as well as a circular graphic format, making understanding the unbalance easy for the operator.
• Good Part Display: After a part has been balanced below its tolerance, “Good Part” will display in large font on the screen.
• Catalog: A searchable catalog of your parts and their corresponding configurations makes it easy to switch from one part to the next (up to 10 entries).
• Part Setup: Adjustable settings for each part including the dimensions and tolerance information for the part, as well as other process information.
• Part Data: Information can be taken as each part is balanced. A USB cable is attached to the back of the computer that can be pulled into a laptop/computer that will allow for downloading balance information in a text file or csv file.
• Electronic Tooling Compensation: This allows the computer to zero out tooling unbalance and eccentricity, allowing your parts to be balanced much closer to their true zero.
